Patch Information
Alongside the ladder reset we will be releasing Patch #16 (Jade). I aim to release the tentative patch notes one week prior to the reset. The finalized notes and the patch will hopefully release 48 hours before reset so that players can test it for bugs in singleplayer. I apologize in advance if I'm late on either of those.
Season 6 Ladder Rankings
Season 6 has already ended on October 21st. You may visit the ladder page to view the rankings. The achievements for the top 5 of each class will be awarded sometime in the coming weeks when we are less busy with preparations for season 7. The servers will remain available to play until about one week prior to the reset. At that point you will be unable to login until about 1-2 hours prior to the ladder reset date.
Non-Ladder Characters
On reset day, characters will be converted over to non-ladder. We always release big patches, alongside ladder resets, that can alter skills or items which could corrupt your character save files. Fortunately, there are ways to make sure your character safely transfers to non-ladder. You can solve this by resetting your character's skills and muling away their gear before a patch hits. This means no matter what changes are implemented in patch #16, your character save file will not get corrupted. I will go into more details in the tentative patch notes about which skills or items are changing so you can decide if you should respec your character or not. This is only a concern for players who wish to play non-ladder after the patch. If you plan on playing ladder you can ignore it.

Teking66,Mivo is correct in their response. Unfortunately there is no way to play this game without an internet connection.
Path of Exile servers handle many, many calculations that are integral to the game. While it would be possible for them to release a single-player only mode, that would potentially expose the secrets of the inner game mechanics to a few unsavory types.I'm sorry you are having trouble with this game over your internet - it really is a great one! Also, it is entirely possible to play this game 'solo', so if that's what you're looking for, this game really is great. Just started today. Have satellite connection. I'm a Ranger. Lag in move/attk obvious but not too bad.
Got a fire gem for my bow's socket right away. Took down the 'drowned' pretty easily. Had to run away, turn & shoot the boss, um.' Hillsboro' or something like that. Shift to hold position is good. Infinite arrows are nice. Made it to the first village. One question: will that partial second lag screw me up when I get up to the higher level fights? This game's a lot like the Divine Divinity, Diablo & Torchlight series.
Think I'm gonna like it once I figure out the best skill path for a Ranger (and how to trade.first try was a puzzlement. No coin/gold/bottle caps. Just 1/5 of a ID scroll & I have a full pack with 3 magical items that need to ID). With no manual, I need to do more searching. Originally posted by:Just started today.

Lagwin, thanks for the mechanics lesson. Using your terminology I got even more detailed developer explanations on lag.and might even have understood some of it!:)I've never been able to play on-line games like Half Life Deathmatch or Counterstrike Source.
I spawn, look around, and am horizontal on the ground, killed instantly. Fate & Torchlight worked on the Wild Tangent site. Elite Dangerous plays just fine in Solo mode. With PoE, I take little steps until I can see enemies on the edge of the screen, take a couple of bow shots, run away, turn, shoot, rinse & repeat. Not really much fun.
I'm getting better at not shooting too often and then getting overtaken by the delay or wasting shots (again, thanks for infinite arrows). Not sure it will hold up in higher level situations. There's a lot to like in this game. I hope my brain & muscle memory can take what is in store for me.
